Hoe behoud je rust in een wereld vol chaos? Inner Citadel is een grootschalig werk voor brassband, geïnspireerd door de Meditaties van de Romeinse keizer en filosoof Marcus Aurelius. Het voert de luisteraar en de muzikant mee naar de 'Innerlijke Citadel': de onneembare vesting in de menselijke ziel waar externe gebeurtenissen geen vat op hebben.

Dit is niet alleen een historisch portret, maar een psychologisch landschap waarin de uitersten van het menselijk bestaan worden opgezocht. Van de rauwe onrust van de Marcomanische oorlogen tot de verstilling van een schrijvende keizer bij kaarslicht.

Dit werk is voor 2026 aangewezen als het verplichte werk in de eerste divisie tijdens de Nederlandse (NBK), Duitse (DBBV) en Belgische (VLAMO) Brassband Kampioenschappen. In het kader van deze wedstrijd zal er een gedrukte set worden geleverd bij bestelling.
